iTunesFestival 30 days

For many, September means back-to-school, but for music lovers worldwide you’ll be excited to know that next month is also iTunes Festival month. It’s back for a 7th year, kicking off day one on September 1st, with Lady Gaga and wrapping up 30 days later with Katy Perry.

If you’re fortunate enough to be in the U.K. around that time then perhaps you may have the opportunity to take it in live at London’s legendary Roundhouse. If not, then you can still enjoy 30 nights of free music streamed live to you via the iTunes Festival app or with Apple TV.

If the past is any indication as to how awesome the month will be, you’re in for a treat. In previous years we’ve seen the likes of Coldplay, Amy Winehouse, Oasis and former Beatle Paul McCartney, who despite being way beyond 64 can still rock it!

iTunesFestivalGaga

In addition to Gaga and Perry, this year over 60 artists have been invited to this mega gig, some of which include: Justin Timberlake, Kings of Leon, Jessie J, Elton John, The Lumineers, Sigur Rós, and Arctic Monkeys.

There’s something for everyone including Italian pianist and composer, Ludovico Einaudi.

For Canadians, there will be an extra special treat as, Bahamas, an emerging new talent, will take the stage on Monday, September 16th.

“(We’re) Thrilled and honoured to be part of this year’s iTunes Festival!” said Bahamas.

For 30 days, you can enjoy some of your favorites and perhaps discover new music you never heard before.

And since it’s live, you never know what might happen.

In 2011 during the Foo Fighters’ gig, the group kicked out one of their fans for causing a fight in the audience. Dave Grohl, the Foo Fighters lead vocalist, stopped in the middle of their performance of ‘Skin and Bones’ shouting, “Who’s fighting? Let me see him. Hey you in the striped shirt, look at me, look at me… Get the f*** outta my show right now. Get the f*** out.”

How to Enjoy iTunes Festival

Both the iPhone and iPad apps have been updated with a fresh look and for the first time, Apple TV users will be able to access the streams directly and watch the performance in high definition on their big screen TV. Just look for the iTunes Festival channel right on your home screen. Alternately, you could stream the shows from your iOS device via AirPlay. And yes, you can still watch the streams through your Mac or PC.

Performance Availability

You can catch all performances live worldwide via the iTunes Festival London 2013 app. If you miss a show, some may be available on repeat for a limited time. All performances will also be available for purchase and download on the iTunes Store.
